Do I file sales tax when the month was zero
Yes. The return in Allen is due on the 20th of the next month even when taxable sales were zero. Zero is a filing, not a mood. A Saturday line at Elke's Market Cafe still produces a receipt, and we would get in that line too, and that receipt still has to name the city's tax before the month is closed. Skipping a quiet month is how a later letter describes you as late. We would rather file the zero from a reconciled account than reconstruct it after the fact.
Why does my receipt say 8.25 if the city has three pieces
Because the customer is supposed to see one combined rate. The state keeps 6.25 percent and the city keeps 2 percent. Collin County does not add a county sales tax, and Allen is outside a transit authority. The city's 2 percent is still a half percent for the 4A corporation, a half percent for the 4B corporation, and 1 percent for the city general fund. Local code 2043072 is how the Comptroller names the city. Your books can hold those names even though the receipt will not.
Does a 4A rate mean I should elect S corporation status
No connection of that kind exists. The 4A piece is a local sales tax allocation. An S corporation election is a federal threshold about wages, profit, and a date. One can be true of your register while the other is a bad idea for your year, or the other way around. We will talk about the election only when the closed months make the math real. We will name the 4A piece either way.
The rooms were empty. Can I skip hotel tax
The city hotel occupancy tax is 7 percent on top of the state 6 percent, and the city return is due on the 20th even when no tax is owed. Late hotel tax runs 5 percent in the first 30 days, 10 percent from day 31 through day 90, and 15 percent after a fiscal quarter, plus 12 percent annual interest. A zero month is the easy version of the form. Skipping it is the expensive habit.
Who do I argue with about my property value
Value is the appraisal district's job in Collin County. The bill that arrives later comes from the county tax office. List business personal property by the middle of April, or file a written ask that pushes the list toward the middle of May. A fight about real property value generally shares that May date and still is a different stack of paper. For fiscal year 2025 to 2026 the city charges 41.54 cents per 100 dollars, and a qualifying home can take a 5 percent city homestead exemption. Three acts, three files. We help gather records. The district owns the value decision.
Will you run my payroll
We set it up on the provider you already chose, or on one you choose during the setup. Registrations, pay items, and a look at the early runs. Then the login is yours. After that, payday itself is their software, not a job we keep. Wages still have to hit the same month as the work, in the books we close. We do not keep the only key.
When can the return start
When the months are closed and the local names are in the filings those months support. Estimates during the year are how the balance due stays unsurprising. Penalty relief, if a year was late, is a request that rides with a real return, not a request that replaces one. If the year is open, we say it is open, and the return waits.
Is there a Comptroller office in Allen where I can just go
No. Allen has no Comptroller counter, and the rest of Collin County does not either. The agency names an office on the northwest side of Dallas, an office on the southwest side of Dallas, and a video field office. Our side of the work is the closed months and the filings those months support. Bring months that already tie. Mileage without those months leaves the notice unanswered.
What does the first call cost me in obligations
A conversation, and nothing more binding than that. Picking a slot, or scrolling these pages, leaves you unhired. Paid work begins only after a scope letter carries both signatures and a fee. Some calls end with advice to wait. Some end because you need an attest cover this practice will not put on a statement.
Where do the public numbers on this site come from
From the public pages that publish them. The city for hotel tax and for the property tax rate and the bill mix. The Comptroller for the sales tax allocation, the school rates, and the franchise threshold of 2,650,000 dollars on report years 2026 and 2027. The disclosures page repeats the figures next to that habit. A number we cannot point at does not get a sentence.
